Ron Hurlbut

Ronald H. Hurlbut, age 80, Browns Valley, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo.

Funeral Services will be Friday, July 18, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Browns Valley with Cheryl Jenner officiating.

Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery.  Urn bearers will be Dylon Andrews and Dustin Andrews.

Visitation will be Friday morning one hour prior to the service at the church.

Ronald Howard Hurlbut was born August 23, 1944, to Clinton and Elaine (Brown) Hurlbut in Watertown, SD.  He lived in Raymond, SD, until the age of 8 when his family moved to Browns Valley.  He graduated from Browns Valley High School in 1962.  After graduating from South Dakota State University, he worked for the State of Minnesota as a dairy inspector until he retired in 2006.  Ron had a small hobby farm where he raised pigs and sheep.

Ron married Vicki Spotts in 1977.  They were blessed with two children, Ryan and Kelli.

Ron enjoyed hunting and fishing and passed his love of the outdoors to his children as well as to the neighbor kids.  In his early years, Ron was an avid bowler.  He also enjoyed being part of the Centennial Band.

Survivors include two children, Ryan (Kelsey Mohs) Hurlbut and Kelli Rinehart of Browns Valley; and a sister, Mary (Bill) Hermanson of Eleva, WI.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Elaine; and stepmother, Dorothy.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be directed to the Valley View Cemetery.
