Maryann Appel

Maryann G. Appel, age 81, Bloomington, MN, formerly of Browns Valley, passed away June 15, 2025, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, June 24, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Browns Valley with Father John Paul Knopik officiating.  Music will be provided by Carmen Hills, Sue Sykora, and Stacey Borgheiinck.

Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Browns Valley.  Pallbearers will be Steve Appel, Mark Appel, Jackson Metz, Brendan Metz, Austin Metz, and Dathan Wilson.

Visitation will be Tuesday morning one hour prior to the service at the church.

Maryann was born to George and Amie (Bostwick) Appel in Graceville on July 4, 1943.  She attended Browns Valley School and graduated with the Class of 1961.  She attended school in Brookings, SD, for a year before getting a job in Minneapolis.  She worked there until they moved the company to Dallas, TX.  She went to Dallas to train the new employees for a few months before retiring.

Maryann is survived by two brothers and their families, Bob (Sandy) Appel of Browns Valley (Steve Appel of Watertown, SD, Jennifer (Rob) Vold of Dayton, MN, and Melissa (Kelly) Metz of Browns Valley) and Bill (Marlene) Appel of Browns Valley (Jessica (Rick) Moen and Mark Appel of Browns Valley).  She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews and several great great nieces and nephews.

Maryann is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Patricia; her grandparents; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.  She is also preceded in death by her two cats, Puddy and Abby.
