William "Bill" Kaufman

William W. "Bill" Kaufman, 84, Browns Valley, MN, died Saturday, December 19, 2009, at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, ND.     Funeral services were Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Browns Valley with Rev. Paul Warnier officiating. Music was provided by organist Ginny Westbrock and vocalist Jackson Piechowski.     Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery, Rosholt, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Bill's friends. Active pallbearers were Todd Kaufman, Jon Kaufman, Chad Armstrong, Curtis Klemm, Wayne Kaufman, and Randy Armstrong.     Visitation was Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt and continued Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.     William Walter Kaufman was born June 23, 1925, in Bryant Township, Roberts County, SD, to Walter and Maude (Lampman) Kaufman. He attended rural school in Windom, SD, and the Morris Ag School in Morris, MN.     On November 24, 1946, Bill married Joyce Miller at Zion Lutheran Church in Browns Valley. They farmed in Bryant Township. In 1987, they retired and continued to live on the farm.     Bill was a church elder, a Boy Scout leader, and a member of the Bryant Township Board. He was also honored to be selected as a volunteer of the year at the Browns Valley Health Center.     An excellent woodworker, Bill enjoyed making crafts for family, friends, and the nursing home residents. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and playing cards and Dominoes. His greatest joys were family gatherings and times with friends and neighbors. He admired the view of the lake from his farm and truly enjoyed fishing, gardening and growing flowers. He really looked forward to the feedings of his birds and turkeys.     Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Browns Valley; his two sets of twins, Linda Larson of Casper, WY, Larry "Butch" Kaufman of Wahpeton, ND, Pam and Randy Armstrong of Wahpeton, and Paul Kaufman and Cindy Thompson of Browns Valley; six grandchildren, Leah Larson, Todd Kaufman, Jon Kaufman, Angie Birney, Chad Armstrong, and Kristi Armstrong; 12 great-grandchildren, Jake, Cameron, Mackenzie, Jazmyn, Nycolas, Emily, Ella, Emari, Jazzy, Star, Carter, and Rachel; a sister, Myrtle (Ben) Marquette of Maple Lake, MN; and numerous other family members. Also dear to his heart are Rose Kaufman and Sonya Klemm.     Bill was preceded in death by his parents; step-dad, Art Kaufman, daughter-in-law, Yvonne Kaufman; son-in-law, Lynn Larson; and granddaughter, Sue Larson.
