William "Bill" G. Walz

William G. "Bill" Walz, 87, Graceville, MN, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at Grace Home in Graceville.
Memorial Services will be Saturday, September 23, at 10:30 a.m. at the Grace Home in Graceville with Don Montonye officiating. Music will be provided by organist Deb Farwell and vocalist Donna Jipson.
Burial will be in the Parnell Cemetery, Traverse County, MN. Military honors will be provided by the Jesse S. Poole American Legion Post 297 of Graceville. Honorary urn bearers will be Bill's family and friends.
The Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt, SD, is in charge of the arrangements.
William Gustav Walz was born October 23, 1929, to Max Leonard and Irene Florence (Seiber) Walz in Traverse County, MN. He was baptized at Zion Church in Parnell Township, MN, and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Dumont, MN. Bill attended school through the eighth grade.
In 1948, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1952. He returned home and worked construction and farmed for Laurence Menge for many years. In his spare time, he loved to fish and always went to the office for a cocktail.
Survivors include his sisters, Delores Holden of Mayville, ND, and Betty Jacobs of Wheaton, MN.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Irene Walz; two brothers, Harold and Leonard; a sister, Marge and her husband Lewis Stromberg; and two brothers-in-law, Gordon Jacobs and Miles Holden.
