Wilfred "Butch" Frank Meyer was born September 27, 1918, to Fred and Anna (Koeppe) Meyer in Minnesota Township, Roberts County, SD. He was the third son in a family of four boys and two girls. He was baptized and confirmed in the United Church of Christ in Hankinson, ND, and attended school at Enterprise #4, Roberts County.

Butch married Ruth, daughter of Leonard and Theresa Rattelmuller, on September 3, 1950, at the Windom Church in Harmon Township. They were the parents of four children, a son and three daughters. Butch and Ruth raised their family on their farm in Hart Township. They retired in 1988 and moved to Sisseton.

Butch loved the land; he was a life-long farmer. After fully retiring, he still enjoyed watching the crops grow and observing the seasonal activities in the country while driving around in his pickup. He also enjoyed riding along in the tractor during spring work and the combine in harvest with his grandsons.

Wilfred is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruth of Sisseton; son, Robert (Candy) Meyer of Sisseton; daughters, Julie (Steve) Weaver of Sioux Falls, Gail (Doug) Tobkin of Kindred, ND; and Carol (Randy) Steenholdt of Savage, MN; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bernice Rolstad of Minneapolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Louie, Herbert, and Elroy; and sister, Lucille Thelin.

The family requests memorials be directed to the Prairie Lakes Hospice, 401 9 th Ave NW, Watertown, SD, 57201.
