Wayne was born November 20, 1970, in Graceville, MN, at Holy Trinity Hospital, to Jack and Dorothy (Stapleton) Goodhart. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Browns Valley, MN. He attended school at Browns Valley School where he was active in sports including football and wrestling. He then went to NDSU in Fargo, ND, to continue his wrestling and academic career.
On February 9, 2002, Wayne was united in marriage to his beautiful, loving, and patient wife Sarah at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton, MN. They then welcomed three beautiful children into the world, Hannah Marie, Piper Rose, and Jack Wayne.
Wayne spent many years working with his dad and family at the Goodhart Bros shop in Browns Valley. After Hannah was born in 2003, he decided that would be his last year driving truck on the road. Wayne and Sarah bought the farm place that Sarah had grown up on and in 2006 moved into their forever home on the farm. In addition to growing their farming operation and family (Piper was born in 2007 and Jack in 2011), Wayne began selling seed for his father-in-law. In 2014 Wayne and Sarah bought Krueger Seeds from Sarah's parents.
Wayne loved sports. He was 100% a wrestler at heart. When he was a Junior in High School, he won the 138 pound Minnesota State Wrestling Championship. After his Senior year he had the honor and opportunity to travel to the USSR/Russia to wrestle. After his wrestling days were done, he carried his love of wrestling into the stands as a fan. One of his absolute proudest moments was getting to watch Hannah win the South Dakota State Wrestling Championship in 2021, the first year that SD had Girls Wrestling. He loved following the Sisseton Redmen, the SDSU Jackrabbits, and Team USA wrestling. He wasn't in the stands as a fan, he was in the stands as a wrestler watching every match through the eyes and mind of a wrestler.
Everywhere Wayne went and in everything he did, he made friends. His phone contact list was crazy long, and if he had time to kill, you never knew who he would be calling, just to catch up.
Wayne's family was his everything. He was so incredibly proud of his kids! He loved that Hannah is planning to come back to the farm after college. Getting to watch Piper wrestle in Florida in 2021 was a thrill for him and he was really looking forward to this year, her first year wrestling in High School. Wayne was always so amazed by Jack's ability to effortlessly master technology and he loved his wit and ability to make anyone laugh. Wayne's perfect day was having Sarah, and all 3 kids together, what they were doing didn't matter.
Wayne is survived by his wife Sarah Goodhart, three children Hannah, Piper, and Jack; two brothers John (Barb) Goodhart of Browns Valley and twin brother Matt (Carmen Hills) Goodhart of Browns Valley; brothers and sisters-in-law Brian Krueger, Holly (Gary) Deutsch, Sheila (Scott) Myrum; mother and father-in-law Richard and Jeanne Krueger; aunts and uncles Roger and Karen Goodhart, Bill and Donna Stapleton, Joel and Devra Stapleton, Dayl Stapleton, and Mike and Rachel Stapleton; nieces and nephews, Casey (Chelsey) Goodhart, Cami (Denny Weber) Goodhart, Lacey Goodhart, Wyatt Krueger, Brayden Deutsch, Callie and Carson Myrum and great-nephew Cayson Goodhart.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father John (Jack) and Dorothy Goodhart; aunt Rita Stapleton; and uncle Donny Goodhart.
