She graduated from Littlefork High School in 1941. She was employed for several years as a nurse's aide for Dr. R.D. Hanover at the Littlefork Hospital.
Vina met her future husband Kermit Alsaker at her sister Mildred Marklund's wedding to Henry Alsaker in June 1945. Vina and Kermit made their home at Lakeview Farm on Mud Lake, Rosholt, SD, where they lovingly raised two sons: Vincent and Larry. She took pleasure in raising chickens, gathering eggs, and gardening. She was a member of Trondhjem-Bethania Lutheran Church.
