Victor "Vic" Braun, 53, Rosholt, SD, died Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Funeral mass was Saturday, February 11, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Rosholt with Father Dennis Deis, OMI, officiating. Music was provided by organist Lana Sand and vocalists Jeffrey Hoppe and Shelly Issendorf.
Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery, Rosholt. Pallbearers were Keith Hahn, Calvin Ceroll, Leslie Schiltz, Larry Luick, Mikey Ceroll, and Glenn Keifer.
Visitation was Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Rosholt.
Victor Ambrose Braun was born July 19, 1958, in Wheaton, MN, to Ambrose and Rita (Pulskamp) Braun. He was baptized, received First Communion, and confirmed at St. John's Catholic Church in Rosholt. Vic attended school in Rosholt graduating from Rosholt High School in 1976. After graduation, Vic worked for local farmers. He then moved to Ortonville, MN, and worked at his brother Art's car dealership, Custom Auto. He returned to the Rosholt area where he worked for local farmers and also farmed on his own.
On September 3, 1988, Vic married Cheri Hoppe at St. John's Catholic Church in Rosholt. Vic was employed as a welder at Wil-Rich in Wahpeton. In 2001, he started his own carpentry business.
Vic was a lifetime member of St. John's Catholic Church, where he served on the church council and as an usher. He also belonged to the Rosholt Fire Department and the Roberts County Pork Producers.
Vic enjoyed grilling and cooking. He also used his talents to build his family a beautiful home. Vic always loved a good joke or prank.
Survivors include his wife, Cheri of Rosholt; two children, Courtney and Tyler of Rosholt; his mother, Rita Braun of Rosholt; father-in-law, Leonard Hoppe of Graceville; brothers and sisters, Bill and Toni Braun of Rosholt, Art and Pat Braun of St. Cloud, Leo and Barb Braun of West Fargo, Phillip and Connie Braun of Leonard, ND, Jeff and Marilyn Braun of British Columbia, Ralph and Julie Braun of Zimmerman, MN, Ruth and Dayle Haaland of Veblen, SD, John and Karen Braun of Rosholt; and Karen Braun of Volga, SD; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Vic was preceded in death by his father, Ambrose Braun; mother-in-law, Marian Hoppe; and an infant brother.
