Todd R. Anderson, 59, of Anchorage, AK, and Rosholt, SD, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013, at his residence in Anchorage.
Funeral services were Monday, August 5, at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Joseph Lutheran Church, rural Rosholt, with Rev. Suzanne Benidt officiating. Music was provided by organist Ruby Larsen and vocalists Layne and Betsy Moeller.
Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery, rural Rosholt. Pallbearers were Trent, Leon, Brian, Lando, Levi, Dillon and Mitchell Anderson.
Visitation was Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt and continued Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Todd Randall was born January 26, 1954, in Breckenridge, MN, to Harold and Doris (Westby) Anderson, and he grew up on the family farm near Rosholt. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Lutheran Church. He attended country school for one year and then elementary and high school in Rosholt, graduating in 1972. Following graduation, Todd attended the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton. In 1974, he moved to Alaska and worked as a mechanic/welder and later as a truck driver hauling fish and produce between Homer, AK, and Seattle, WA. He also hauled materials for various airport and road construction projects. Todd remained in Alaska working in the construction and trucking fields until recently when he spent the winters in Rosholt working with Anderson Brothers Trucking.
In 1977, Todd married Mona Neal in Anchorage, AK and welcomed her daughter Suzette as part of his family. A son, Jason Todd was born in 1979, and in 2000 Todd became the proud grandfather of Tyler J.T. Anderson.
Todd's interests included history, wildlife, rodeo, Nascar, horseback riding, working cattle, hunting, working on cars, and other outdoor activities. At family gatherings he enjoyed telling stories and holding any new baby. He often reached out to those in need of help or a friend.
Todd is survived by his son Jason Anderson of Portland, OR; grandson, Tyler Anderson, of La Grande, OR; step-daughter, Suzette Barney of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, Trent Anderson and Teresa Anderson-Barrera of New Brighton, MN, Leon (Jill) Anderson, and Brian (Joan) Anderson of Rosholt, SD; sister, Terry Anderson of Spearfish SD; sister-in-law, Shelia Anderson of Aberdeen, SD; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Todd was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Trevor; and his ex-wife, Mona Anderson.
