Terry was born April 1, 1952, the second of four children, to Acey and Marlys (Struck) Ellingson in Wheaton, MN. She spent her childhood in rural northeast South Dakota, surrounded by family and friends. She attended all her school years in New Effington, where she graduated in 1970. After graduation, Terry journeyed to the metropolitan area of Minneapolis/St. Paul where she attended Humbolt Business College. She was able to stay in contact with extended family there. After college, Terry spent most of her working years with several insurance companies in customer service and claims departments.
Terry played softball and golf for several years, loved snowmobiling, and even did some skiing. Terry was always up for something fun and made many friends. She always had a dog or two, but recently it was just the cats and visits from Millie.
Extended family continued to be a very important part of her life, and she made many family gatherings. Terry loved her nieces and nephew and created wonderful Easter hunts and Christmas activities which are still carried out so even the great-grand nieces and nephews are treated to these wonderful traditions.
After retiring, Terry returned to her hometown to care for her dad and community. She got involved in running the café in Claire City for a time. The Faith quilters and WELCA were busy activities. Terry joined the American Legion Auxiliary, served on the church council for several years, and was currently the church secretary. She always helped with blood drives however she could and was the local blood drive coordinator for a time.
Terry's friendly banter and willingness to help will be greatly missed by many.
Survivors include her siblings, Eileen (Steve) Parkhurst of Rosholt, Jon Ellingson of Rosholt, and Janel Ellingson of New Effington; nieces and nephew, Stacey (Steve) Meyer, Kasey (Mat) Brandenburger, Beret (Rich) Ohm, Jona (Mark) Ohm, Richié "Shea" Ellingson, and Adam Ellingson; grand nieces and nephew, Taryn and Grace Meyer, Ashley (Alex) Lacey, Amanda (Josh) Holm, Gabe Ohm, Sierra (Brady) Atherton, Hazel (Will) Bierschbach, and Trinity Ohm; and great-grand nieces and nephews, Charlotte Lacey, Paisley Ohm, Joey, Bodie and Sonny Atherton, and Acey Bierschbach.
Terry was preceded in death by her parents, Acey and Marlys Ellingson.
