Memorial Service for Tamera Ulstad-Scrudato of Wahpeton, will be held on Friday, June 20th, 2025 at 1 P.M. at Faith Lutheran Church, New Effington.
Tammy was born in Minneapolis, MN, at Swedish Hospital, on March 31, 1960 to Orvin and Ruth Ann (Struck) Ulstad. Tammy passed away on May 22, 2025.
Tammy attended elementary school at Jefferson Elementary and graduated from Blaine High School in 1978.
Shortly after graduating, Tammy married, eager to begin a family of her own. Over the years, she was blessed with many meaningful experiences, the most cherished of which was the birth of her first daughter, Jerica, in 1984.
In 1993 Tammy's heart was pulled out west to the Black Hills of South Dakota; a place filled with cherished memories of family vacations. Tammy made Rapid City her home, where life brought her two more incredible blessings; her daughters, Morgan and Taylor. It was the start of a beautiful new chapter.
In 2003 Tammy's love for farm life and horseback riding called her back to the New Effington/Hankinson area where she had many new and exciting adventures with her friends, family and horses. She even had her own shoppe called, Uniquely Ulstad Gifts, where she could showcase her creativity. She lived here for many years until new adventures called her name.
In 2016 Tammy moved to Florida where she met her husband, Pete. They were married in 2017. Tammy was happier than ever with what they shared together. They lived a full life while in Florida. Pete taught her about fishing, landscaping and horticulture. They shared many other interests and Pete was so supportive when she had another crazy idea for a new project or craft.
In 2018 her first grandchild was born, Eli. Though it was hard on her not being able to see Eli in person, they had a great relationship thanks to, FaceTime!
In 2022 Tammy and Pete moved to Wahpeton so they could be closer to Tammy's daughters and grandkids.
Tammy's favorite pastime was being at the farm and riding horse. Whether Tammy was riding, grooming or feeding a horse, as long as she could give a horse a good hug and bury her nose in their neck, Tammy was the absolute happiest she could be. Tammy was also incredibly gifted with her hands. She had a passion for beadwork and leather crafting, often creating beautiful pieces of custom jewelry. Her dad would often sit with her and just watch in amazement when she would be creating a piece of new artwork; her dad was so proud of her. As her creativity grew, so did her craft. Tammy poured her heart into every tumbler, every T-shirt, every handmade treasure. She found joy in sharing at a craft show but mostly in giving to those she loved. Her art was more than a hobby; it was how she touched the world.
In July 2024, Tammy was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer. Tammy fought a tireless battle with all the courage and positivity that she had. She was fearless and brave through it all.
Tammy is survived by her husband, Peter Scrudato of Wahpeton; her mother Ruth Ann Ulstad of Ramsey, MN; her children, Jerica (Dan) Lemme of Rapid City, SD, Morgan (Samantha) Durant of Wahpeton, Taylor (Isaac) Durant of Wahpeton; her grandchildren, Eli, Carter and Callie of Wahpeton; her brother Todd and wife Marie; her sister Kristin and husband Pat; her nephew, Shane Wilkes, her nieces, Alexa (Andrew) Carbert, Ashley Wilkes, and Great nephew, Remy.
Tammy was preceded in death by her father, Orvin Ulstad; former husband, Steven Durant; both sets of grandparents, Willie and Anna Ulstad and Ortwin and Hazel Struck.
