Susie C. (O'Brien) Biggs Knoblich, 93, Georgetown, TX, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2015, in Round Rock, TX.

Funeral Mass was Saturday, May 30, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Rosholt, SD, with Father Jerome Ranek officiating. Music was provided by organist Lana Sand.

Burial was in the St. Nicholas Cemetery, rural Rosholt. Pallbearers were grandsons, Chad Kampa, Scott Kampa, and Nathan Biggs; great nephews, Eric Skjonsberg and Jason Skjonsberg; and nephew, Mark O'Brien.

Visitation was Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Susie was born August 17, 1921, to John H. O'Brien and Anna (Hanson) O'Brien at New Effington, SD. She attended school in Minnesota. In 1939, Susie moved with her family from Hoffman, MN, to Rosholt, SD. There she worked doing house cleaning, painting, and babysitting.

On June 20, 1949, she married Robert "Bob" Biggs in Rosholt, SD. They lived in Rosholt and became the parents of two daughters and two sons. After the death of her husband, Robert, she moved to Minneapolis, MN, to be with her daughter Marie who was undergoing kidney dialysis. When Susie learned her daughter would require a kidney transplant, a fund raiser was initiated to assist in the cost of the transplant. However, Susie also wrote to her senators, the governor, the President and the Vice President of the United States. Hubert Humphrey, then Vice President, and Sen. George McGovern of Susie's home state of South Dakota, responded. With their help, the national Medical Assistance Plan, Title 19, was passed, making funds available to Susie to help with her daughter's medical expenses. While in Minneapolis, Susie worked at Ebenezer Nursing Home as Supervisor of Housekeeping and she retired after 14 years.

In 1983, she married Reinhold "Knoby" Knoblich of Minnesota. They moved to Texas in 1986 and lived in San Antonio, Boerne, Center Point, Kerrville and finally Georgetown, TX.

Susie volunteered at the Rainbow Senior Center in Boerne for many years. She was an active member of the Auxiliary VFW in Boerne where she served as chaplain. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, card making, baking her signature cinnamon rolls and traveling to visit family and friends in many states.

Survivors include two sons, Linn (Carol) Biggs of Georgetown, TX, and Richard (Pat) Biggs of Brooklyn Park, MN; one daughter, Rita (David) Kampa of Groton, SD; two sisters, Verma (Murrel) Logan of Ardmore, OK, and Mary Mittag of Wahpeton, ND; two sisters-in-law, Mary O'Brien, and Louann O'Brien; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert; daughter Marie; husband Reinhold; brothers, Philip "Pete" and Ralph; and stepdaughter, Jan.

May she rest in the mercy and love of our Lord.
