Susan Brogren

Susan M. Brogren, 65, New Effington, SD, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at her residence in New Effington.
Funeral services were Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in New Effington, SD, with Rev. Harold Watrous officiating. Music was provided by organist Melanie Yost.
Burial will be at a later date in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Detroit Lakes, MN. Honorary urn bearers were her grandchildren, Jessica Larson, Dan Abel, Jr. Aaron Abel, Christifer Luebke, Joshua Luebke, Paige Luebke, Anna Browning, and Jordan Browning.
Visitation was Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Susan Marie was born on April 11, 1948 in Detroit Lakes, MN, to Palmer and Laurel (Hogenson) Brenna. She grew up in Ulen, MN, where she attended school, graduating in 1966.
On November 25, 1966, Susan married Darrell Brogren in Sisseton, SD. They lived in South Dakota, North Dakota, and Minnesota. Susan was a dedicated housewife and loving mother, raising 4 children. She loved crafting, gardening, sewing, and animals, especially dogs.
Survivors include her husband, Darrell Brogren of New Effington; children, Jon Brogren of Wahpeton, ND, Sarah Abel of Wahpeton, ND, Paula Hahn of Las Vegas, NV, and Teresa (Mark) Browning of Sierra Vista, AZ; brother, John Brenna of Aberdeen, SD; sisters, Ellen (Ted) Hatlan of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Chris Swenson of Las Vegas, NV; 8 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents and a brother James Brenna.
