Rose Mary Brockhaus was born February 25, 1936, to Ferdinand and Catherine (Wieser) Brockhaus in Humphrey, NE.

Rose contracted polio as a baby which prompted her parents and siblings to always keep a watchful eye on her.  When she was four years old, the family moved up from Nebraska to a farm north of Rosholt.  Rose attended country school through the eighth grade.  She was always busy helping at home and took a part-time job washing dishes at Flossie and Helgie Larsen's café for a time.

Rose moved to town with her parents in 1956.  Her dad died on December 24, 1960, and she continued to live with her mother until 1968 when Catherine passed away.  Rose purchased a trailer house and lived at Delmar and Margaret's farm.

Rose did beautiful embroidery work as long as she was able, then switched to fabric paints to enhance tablecloths, dresser cloths, and pillowcases.

Photography was Rose's true passion.  She didn't have children of her own, but she documented every event in her nieces' and nephews' lives with pictures.  There wasn't a family gathering that the "Happy Snapper" didn't line everyone up for a quick click.  Those pictures are now a treasure to her family.  She also clipped every news article and picture from the local newspaper that mentioned a relative.

When Rose moved to town in 1985, she lived at the 4-Plex in Rosholt.  Then she moved into a ground level apartment in 1991.  Rose was the first person to call Countryside Inn "home" in 2006.  She enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and constant banter with the staff.  Bingo, cards, and games occupied her days and she put her fabric paints to the side because she just didn't have time to use them!  She was invited to join the Ding-a-Lings which she enjoyed very much.

Polio continued to affect Rose's mobility and she relied on a motorized wheelchair to get around.  After a fall in 2017, she moved to the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton, MN.  She was welcomed by the wonderful staff there and shared many laughs and smiles.  She spent hours doing word searches, coloring, watching Hallmark movies, and listening to music.

Rose is survived by her sisters, Annamae (Donald) Braun, and Margaret Braun of Rosholt; her brother, Elmer (Barb) Brockhaus of Mankato, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ferdinand and Catherine; sisters, Dorothy and Dolores; brother, Arthur; sister-in-law, Margaret Brockhaus; and brothers-in-law, Delmar Braun and Vernon Keller.
