Ronald Louis Ceroll was born July 13, 1938, in Roberts County, SD, son of Arthur Ceroll Sr. and Viviana (Helmer) Ceroll. He was made a child of God through Holy Baptism at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Claire City, SD, where he remained a lifelong member. Having made a public profession of faith, he was confirmed on August 17, 1952, by Pastor T.H. Vogel. Ronald graduated from the 8 th grade.

On June 10, 1961, Ronald was united in marriage to Sylvia Medenwald by Pastor Kirst at Zion Lutheran Church. God blessed this union with seven children. Ronald and Sylvia moved to the family farm in 1963.  As Jerry said; "It started with an Oliver and ended with a John Deere."

Ronald enjoyed farming and working with his cattle. He sold Top Farm Hybrid Seed in which he received several awards for. He loved to dance the polka, wear his cowboy hat and boots, and enjoy a good strong drink. He and his family played many, many games of Schmier. At Christmas, the house was filled with family, jokes, and gag gifts. Ronald enjoyed ice fishing and hunting, but his greatest joys in life were his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Sylvia passed away in March of 2000.

Ronald was blessed to find his second love and six more children when he married Janet (Bostrom) Ceroll on December 1, 2001. Ron and Janet continued to live on the farm.

Ronald entered Countryside Inn in Rosholt on April 28, 2015. He then resided in Hankinson at St. Gerard's until his passing. Ron Jr. said it best the morning Dad passed away; "God's cows must be coming in, he needed Dad to care for them."

Ronald was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Ceroll; son, Daren Ceroll; parents, Arthur and Viviana Ceroll; and sister, Sylvia Rolstad.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; six children, Rory (Cheryl) Ceroll of Hankinson, ND, Brenda (Paul) Bostrom of New Effington, SD, Vicki (Jerry) Biewer of Watertown, SD, Greta (Roy) Koch of Osakis, MN, Ronald Jr. (Jodi) Ceroll of New Effington, SD and Bryce (Mackenzie Weidenbach) Ceroll of Walcott, ND; six step-children, Mike (Brenda) Ceroll of New Effington, SD, Dale (Jill) Ceroll of Victor, SD, Sherri (Jim) Schiltz of Hankinson, ND, Larry (Melinda) Ceroll of Rosholt, SD, Brent Ceroll of Lidgerwood, ND, and Kevin (Kim) Ceroll of Breckenridge, MN; eleven grandchildren, Courtney Ceroll, Hayley Ceroll, Blake Ceroll, Gaven Ceroll, Damian (Courtney) Bostrom, Rachel (Eli) Nissen, Austin Bostrom, Sari (Carlos) Loera, Christopher (Sandy) Biewer, David Koch, Whitney (soon-to-be Mrs. Lance Nelson) Koch, Barry (Whitney) German and Dawson Ceroll; ten step-grandchildren, Amber (Brent) Fortin, Samantha (Spencer) Hanson, Jennifer (Mike) Coté, Kendal Ceroll, Erica Ceroll, Sarah (Taylor) Schiltz, Mckenzie Schiltz, Owen Ceroll, Kayley Ceroll and Kelsey Ceroll; eleven great-grandchildren; four great step grandchildren; and nine brothers and sisters, Doyle (Georgine) Ceroll, DiAnn (Norman) Beyer, Sharon Johnson, ReNae (Keith) Bostrom, Paulette (David) Christianson, Arthur (Adele) Ceroll, David (Paulette) Ceroll, Darrell (Jane) Ceroll, and Roger Ceroll.
