Richard C. Drewelow, 83, Alexandria, MN, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at his residence in Alexandria.
Funeral services were Monday, October 14, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie, MN, with Rev. Kirk Lee officiating. Music was provided by organist Maureen Diedrich.
Burial was in the Midway Cemetery, Beardsley, MN. Pallbearers were Lui Drewelow, Leni Drewelow, Tyler Solheim, Eric Ching, Ben Drewelow, Alyssa Ching, and Frieda Drewelow.
Visitation was Sunday from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at the church in Parkers Prairie and continued Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Richard Charles Drewelow was born September 22, 1930, in Graceville, MN, to William Henry and Frieda (Schulz) Drewelow. He was baptized and confirmed at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Graceville, MN. Richard grew up in Beardsley, MN, and graduated from the Morris Agricultural School.
On November 3, 1951, Richard married Lois Marie Rau in Morris. After their marriage, they lived in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Arizona. Richard and Lois spent most of their married life in Parkers Prairie, and enjoyed several winters in Apache Junction, AZ. Richard owned and operated a plumbing and heating business for many years.
Richard enjoyed scenic drives and had a passion for remodeling. He loved playing cards and visiting with family and friends. When he was younger, he enjoyed fishing and hunting for pheasants and pocket gophers. Richard also loved food, especially sweets. Lois would make a cake and two pies every weekend.
Survivors include his wife, Lois of Alexandria; six children, Richard Jr. (Rachel) Drewelow of San Diego, CA, Cheryl (Kamson) Ching of Honolulu, HI, Ronald (Elena) Drewelow of Fergus Falls, MN, Randy Drewelow of Minneapolis, MN, Roger Drewelow of Alexandria, MN, and Carolyn (John) Solheim of Eagan, MN; seven grandchildren, Lui Drewelow, Frieda Drewelow, Leni Drewelow, Eric Ching, Alyssa Ching, Ben Drewelow, and Tyler Solheim; three sisters, Dorothy Dix of Denver, CO, and Helen (Lee) Chapman of Terry, MT, and Dianne While of Gillette, WY; and three brothers, Lawrence Drewelow of Beardsley, MN, John (Floradeen) Drewelow of Graceville, MN, and James Drewelow of Fergus Falls, MN.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Arnold, Warren and William; and two sisters, Berdeen Spitzer and Clarice Schwarzwalter.
