Richard P. Borgheiinck, 86, Browns Valley, MN, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015, at the Browns Valley Health Center.

Mass of Christian Burial was Wednesday, October 14, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Beardsley, MN, with Father David Breu officiating. Music was provided by organist Donna Arens and vocalists Stacey Borgheiinck and Sue Sykora.

Burial was in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Beardsley. Military honors were provided by the August Altheide Post 302 of Beardsley. Pallbearers were Richard's grandchildren, Angela Hommerding, Jason Hendricks, Darren Hendricks, Christine Malterud and Daniel Borgheiinck.

Visitation was Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Beardsley and continued Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Richard Paul Borgheiinck was born April 29, 1929, to Joseph and Kathern "Katie" (Luft) Borgheiinck at Buffalo Lake, SD. He attended rural school through the eighth grade. After finishing school, he worked as a baker and farmed near Browns Valley. On January 29, 1951, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served as a tank driver during the Korean War and was honorably discharged January 22, 1953.

On May 30, 1956, Richard married Liela Brecht. He was employed at the Minnesota Rubber Plant in St. Louis Park, MN, as a plant superintendent. In 1972, Richard and Liela began farming north of Wheaton, and Richard was also a AAA Insurance district manager. In 1979, they moved into Wheaton.

Richard married Janice Olson in 1980. They moved to Delamere, ND, where Richard worked at the Delamere Elevator and sold seed. Janice passed away in 2007. Richard made his home in the Browns Valley Health Center in 2008.

Richard was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and a bowling league. His hobbies included bowling, playing cards, dancing and swimming. He also enjoyed drawing and carving.

Survivors include three children, Karen (Lee) Hommerding of Anchorage, AK, Rita (Norbert Jr.) Hendricks of Sauk Centre, MN, and Darold "Butch" (Diane) Borgheiinck of Rosholt, SD; five grandchildren, Angela Hommerding, Jason (Rachelle) Hendricks, Darren (Amy) Hendricks, Christine (Travis) Malterud and Daniel Borgheiinck; nine great-grandchildren, Brittany and Breanna Agate, Carlee Herbrecht, Cassidy, Courtney, Camryn and Chase Hendricks, and Dylan and McKayla Hendricks; three sisters, Elizabeth Pelzer of Cold Spring, MN, Clara Schreifers of Buffalo, MN, and Catherine Rausch of Long Prairie, MN; and a brother, Clarence Borgheiinck of Winthrop, MN.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Janice; two sisters, Mary Stallman and Julia Billiet; and seven brothers, Louis, Martin, Theodore, Joseph, Raymond, Edward and Ivo Borgheiinck.
