Raymond Renelt

Raymond P. Renelt, age 77, Rosholt, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025, surrounded by family at Ava's Hospice House in Sioux Falls.

Funeral Mass will be Monday, January 13, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Rosholt with Father Ken Lulf officiating. Music will be provided by organist Lana Sand.

Burial will be in the St. Nicholas Cemetery, rural Rosholt.  Military honors will be provided by the Leo American Legion Post 48 of Rosholt and the Read Veflin American Legion Post 180 of New Effington.

Honorary pallbearers will be Franny Renelt, Tim Renelt, Ron Renelt, David Renelt, Barbara Klein, Elroy Klein, and Walter Braun.  Active pallbearers will be Aaron Renelt, Amy Hagenson, Amanda Larson, Charlie Wieser, Jessica Bebensee, and John Renelt.

Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the church.  Visitation will continue Monday morning one hour prior to the service at the church.

Raymond Paul was born on February 19, 1947, the second of six children to Francis and Veoma (Voss) Renelt in Breckenridge, MN.  He graduated from Rosholt High School in 1965 and then proudly served in the Army National Guard.  In 1972 he and his brother Franny took over the Renelt family farm near Rosholt and farmed together until Ray's retirement in 2016.

In 1975 Ray met June Marie Dauer and they married in June 1976.  They were blessed with three sons, Chris, Dan, and Adam.  Ray enjoyed taking his family camping, fishing, and spending time with friends around a game or cup of coffee. He was kind-hearted, generous, and always appreciated a chance to visit with anyone willing to chat.

He is survived by his wife June; sons Chris, Dan, and Adam; daughters-in-law Mary and Ashley, and grandsons Graeme, Laken, and William.  He is also survived by his siblings David (Annette) Renelt, Barb (Bill) Klein, Tim (Joan) Renelt, Franny (Karen) Renelt and Ron Renelt.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Veoma.
