Paul David Kellen, age 87, Beardsley, MN, passed away Monday, February 17, 2025, at Grace Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 22, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville with Father Shawn Polman officiating. Music will be provided by organist Deb Needham and vocalist Pat Needham.
Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Beardsley at a later date. Pallbearers will be Paul Weibel, Alex Weibel, Jacob Bly, Kendra Bly, Brandon Kellen, and Ryan Kellen. Gift bearers will be Mason, Izabella and Jaxon Goodrich.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
Paul David Kellen was born October 1, 1937, to Albert and Alma (Anderson) Kellen in Madison, MN. When he was eight years old, the family moved to Beardsley MN. Paul attended country school near Beardsley then attended Beardsley High School, graduating in 1956. During high school, he enjoyed playing football and basketball. After graduation, Paul helped on the family farm and also served in the Minnesota National Guard from 1958 to 1964.
On September 23, 1961, Paul married Mary Ann Wohlers at St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Barry, MN. Paul farmed near Beardsley, retiring in 2015.
Paul was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church in Beardsley until it was closed. He then attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus.
Paul enjoyed bowling, fishing, especially ice fishing, card club, gardening, and driving his Ford tractor in parades. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Ann Kellen of Beardsley; children, Rose Bly of Pierre, SD, Thomas (Kristin) Kellen of St. Cloud, MN, Timothy (Melodie) Kellen of Beardsley, MN, Patricia Weibel of Lester Prairie, MN, and Curt (Kristi) Kellen of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Kendra Bly and Jacob Bly. Candi Goodrich, Amanda Valtierra-Kellen, Kayla Kellen and Ryan Kellen. Brandon Kellen. Paul Weibel and Alex Weibel. Tyler Kellen and Zach Kellen; great-grandchildren, Ezlynn Carter, Effy Carter, Mason Goodrich, Izabella Goodrich, Jaxon Goodrich, Ryan Kellen, Melodie Valtierra-Kellen, Bodie Kellen, Lea Kellen and Halli Kellen. Pryor Kellen; and siblings, Delores Thompson, Donald (Janet) Kellen, and Arlene Bigalke.
Paul was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Kellen; parents, Albert and Alma Kellen; brothers, Levern, Arnold, Gordon, Albert, Jr., Gerald, and Leroy Kellen; and sisters, Beverly Sykora, Shirley Montplaisir, Carol Meskar, and Doris Kellen.
