Patricia Bennett

Patricia M. Bennett, 85, Browns Valley, MN, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2020, at the Browns Valley Health Center.

Private graveside services will be Saturday, May 2, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Browns Valley with Father Gregg Frankman officiating.  Honorary pallbearers will be the St. Anthony of Padua Fraternity Franciscans.  Active pallbearers will be Keith Bennett, Justin Liebelt, Joshua Liebelt, Collin Palmquist, Steve Shallman, and Justin Betzold.

Patricia Mary was born April 3, 1935, to Mathew and Catherine (Harrington) Elsen in Hankinson, ND.  She was baptized, made her first communion, and confirmed at St. Philip's Catholic Church in Hankinson.  Patricia attended country school through the eighth grade in Richland County, ND, and two years of high school at the St. Francis Academy in Hankinson. The family moved to Browns Valley and Patricia graduated from Browns Valley High School in 1953.  She then earned her nursing degree from North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND.

On June 6, 1953, Patricia married Robert Bennett at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Browns Valley.  During her nursing career, Patricia worked at the Sisseton Hospital, Graceville Hospital, Wilmot Nursing Home and the Browns Valley Health Center.  She retired in 1993.

Patricia's faith was very important in her life.  She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and served on the St. Anthony Guild, the Christian Mothers and with the St. Anthony of Padua Fraternity Franciscans.

Patricia's hobbies included baking, cooking, and playing cards.  She enjoyed being a member of the Red Hats, going to the Casino and out to lunch with her friends.  Patricia looked forward to traveling and was able to go on several cruises and toured Europe twice.  Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as time at the lake with family.  Patricia will always be remembered as such a caring and giving person to everyone.

Survivors include her children, Joyce (Darrell) Kortan of Blaine, MN, Steve Bennett of Becker, MN, Brad and Pam Bennett of Sauk Rapids, MN, Terrence Bennett of Browns Valley, MN, and Kay (Dave) Liebelt of Chaska, MN; daughter-in-law, Brenda Bennett of Douglas, WY; grandchildren, Tenielle Shallman, Cristin Betzold, Jocelyn (Peter) Liska, Keith Bennett, Angie Simons, Ashley Bennett, Justin Liebelt, and Joshua Liebelt; sisters, Colleen (Dave) Peickert of Florence, AZ, and Kathy (Clayton) Palmquist of Wilmot, SD.

Patricia was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Bennett, parents, Mathew and Catherine; sister, Bernadette Holland; and husband, Robert Bennett in 2007.
