Minnie Dienert, 69, Hankinson, ND, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at the Rosholt Care Center, Rosholt, SD.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 1, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Hankinson with Rev. Harvey Henderson officiating. Music was provided by organist Wendy Friskop and vocalist Patricia Schubert.
Burial will be at a later date in the Hillside Cemetery, Hankinson. Honorary pallbearers were Linda Dettmann, Linda Mahrer, Carrie Davenport, Norma Murphy, JoAnn Bladow, and Magda VanderHoek, a first cousin from Holland. Active pallbearers were Tanner IntVeld, Trevor IntVeld, Jesse Dienert, Jim Weatherstone, Kevin Cantine, and Darren Nelson.
Visitation was Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the church in Hankinson and continued Saturday one hour prior to the service.
Minnie was born in Heinenoord, Holland, on October 29, 1944. She immigrated to Westfield, ND, with her parents Cornie and Marie (Ryken) IntVeld and sister Lena in December 1947. Minnie graduated from Pollock High School in Pollock, SD, in 1961.
On November 16, 1962, Minnie married Roger Dienert in Pollock. She was a longtime employee of Lincoln State Bank in Hankinson, retiring from her position as cashier in 2005. Minnie organized many parties and trips while employed at the bank. She truly loved her job and all of her friends at the bank.
Minnie and Roger had been able to take many trips around the U.S. and Europe. She connected with her cousin Magda and family in Holland and enjoyed traveling with them to several countries. After retirement, Minnie and Roger enjoyed spending time in Texas during the winter months.
Minnie was a founding member of Calvary Lutheran Church and was active in their women's group. She was also active in her community, supporting many activities and fundraisers and served a term on the school board. Minnie quilted weekly and hosted and attended many quilting shows and retreats with her friends here at home and in Texas.
Minnie was known for having fun and laughing with her friends and family. She loved shopping with her girls and granddaughters. Minnie had a special relationship with all her grandchildren. She also enjoyed music and attended many plays and performances in Fargo with her friends. Over the past years, Minnie enjoyed participating in various 5k events throughout the area. She liked to say she was a marathon runner.
Minnie was diagnosed with brain cancer in December 2013 and unfortunately it was too advanced and complications prevented treatment.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Roger Dienert of Hankinson; three daughters, Colette (Jim) Weatherstone of Sisseton, SD, Miranda (Kevin) Cantine of Milbank, SD, and Andrea (Darren) Nelson of Valley City, ND; grandchildren, Jessica, Emily and Spencer Weatherstone, Alex, Rachael and Rhianna Cantine, and Reid and Rayne Nelson; sister, Lena (Bill) Holly of Naperville, IL; and brother, Cornie (Peggy) IntVeld of Hankinson.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Lance.
