Mildred "Millie" Anderson

Mildred "Millie" Valona (Harrison) Anderson, 100, Wheaton, MN, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at the Sanford Wheaton Hospital in Wheaton.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 10, at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in the Siloah Lutheran Cemetery, Parnell Township, MN.

Mildred Valona Garner was born December 18, 1921, to Charles W. and Anna M. (Goettsch) Garner. She graduated high school in Herman, MN, in 1939 and earned her Normal Teacher's degree in Wheaton. She taught school in rural Elbow Lake, MN, for two years.

On June 30, 1942, Millie married Earl L. Harrison at the Elim Lutheran Church parsonage in Clinton, MN. She continued to teach in rural Traverse County for three years and then put her career on hold to raise her children, Linda and Leslie. Millie returned to teaching in 1959 and taught another 35 years in the Barry, Browns Valley, and Beardsley school districts. She earned her B.S. degree from Moorhead State College in 1974, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Earl passed away in 1986. Millie retired from teaching in 1991.

On February 25, 1993, Millie married Ronald Anderson at the Siloah Lutheran Church, rural Graceville. They made their home in Wheaton until her death on September 6, 2022.

Millie was a lifetime member of the Minnesota Education Association. She was an active member of Siloah Lutheran Church in rural Graceville and later Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton. She was active in the WELCA and served as a Sunday school teacher and as church secretary.

Millie enjoyed dancing, needlework, painting, reading, puzzling, and gardening.

Millie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna; first husband, Earl L. Harrison; daughter, Linda F. Myers; and sister, Viola Escabosa.

Survivors include her husband, Ron of Wheaton; son, Leslie (Vicki) Harrison of Moorhead, MN; grandsons, Jason (Yuliya) Myers, Brian (Nicole) Myers, and Shaun (Jill) Myers; great-grandchildren, Perrin, Sasha and Brody Myers; stepdaughter, Susan (Marty) Oeltjen; stepson, Dave Anderson; niece, Judy Quinn; and other nephews, nieces and friends.
