Meinard attended rural school at Victor #1 through the sixth grade. He graduated from Rosholt High School in 1949 and continued farming with his father Math. He retired (did he ever really?) from farming in 1996. His sons Brian (now deceased), Alan and Paul continue the farming operation.

Meinard pitched baseball for the town league and played third base for the church softball league. Working the land was Meinard's greatest joy. His children and grandchildren brought a smile each time they walked in the door. His favorite activities were golf, playing cards, dancing, bowling, and horseshoes with Del, Gordon and Walt. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing in his earlier years, but most of all he loved being on the farm.
