Mary Lou Toelle, 86, Browns Valley, MN, passed away Tuesday, November 4, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.

Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, November 11, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Browns Valley with Father David Breu officiating. Music was provided by organist Norma Jung and the St. Anthony Choir.

Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery, Browns Valley. Urn bearers were Mary Lou's grandchildren, Jeanette, Kevin and Erik Olson, Ryan, Macy and John Toelle, and Aaron, Shayli and Andrew Toelle.

Visitation was Sunday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the church in Browns Valley. Visitation continued Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mary Lou was born April 2, 1928, in Watertown, SD, to Theodore "Ted" and Helen (Duehr) Deyo. She attended school in Browns Valley, graduating from Browns Valley High School in 1946. She then attended the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis graduating in 1948. After finishing school, Mary Lou worked in the Minneapolis area until 1961.

On July 8, 1961, Mary Lou married Alvin Toelle at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Browns Valley. Alvin and Mary Lou farmed in rural Browns Valley. Mary Lou also worked at the State Bank of Wheaton as a tax preparer and as a treasurer for Folsom Township for many years. Alvin passed away November 25, 2004.

Mary Lou was very active in the community. She was a member of the Browns Valley School Board, Daughters of Isabella, Christian Mothers, and St. Anthony Guild.

Mary Lou enjoyed time with family, working on the farm, gardening, and taking care of her pets.

Survivors include three children, Cheri (Dale) Olson of Washington, NJ, Mike (Sue) Toelle of Browns Valley, and Bob (Cindy) Toelle of Browns Valley; nine grandchildren, Jeanette, Kevin and Erik Olson, Ryan, Macy and John Toelle, and Aaron, Shayli and Andrew Toelle; and a sister, Phyllis Schwagerl of Beardsley, MN.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; brother, Keith Deyo; and two sisters, Charlotte Goehring and Doris Beumer.
