Mary Ann Rose Kruger, 84, Browns Valley, MN, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Funeral mass was Tuesday, March 19, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Browns Valley with Father David Breu officiating. Music was provided by organist Norma Jung and the St. Anthony Choir.
Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery, Browns Valley. Pallbearers were Frank Guenther, Neil Piechowski, Tony Hannasch, Francis Schmitz, Bob Toelle, and Dean Schwagel.
Visitation was Monday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Visitation continued Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mary Ann Rose was born November 2, 1928, to Nicholas and Mary (Piechowski) Roerig in Folsom Township, Traverse County, MN. She attended country school and later attended school in Browns Valley, graduating in 1946.
On September 5, 1950, Mary Ann married Benjamin Kruger at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Browns Valley. She was employed in the office at the Tekakwitha Hospital in Sisseton. She later worked as an aide at the Browns Valley Health Center. Ben passed away February 17, 1989.
Mary Ann was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and belonged to the Christian Mothers.
Mary Ann enjoyed gardening and flowers. Her greatest enjoyment came from making homemade rag rugs for herself and others. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, James (Loretta) Kruger of Browns Valley, Carol (Curtis) Roark of Yuma, AZ, and Connie (Galen) Roark of Rosholt; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, George Roerig; sisters, Phyllis Schmitz, Kathryn Saravia, Germaine Tobeck, and Rita Hannasch; brother-in-law, Paul (Joyce) Kruger; sister-in-law, Gertrude Kruger; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben; and sisters, Elaine Kenney and Theresa Ruiz.
