Marsha was born May 28, 1959, to Charles and Olive (Robertson) MacConnell on the MacConnell ranch three miles from Veblen, SD. The youngest of seven, Marsha had a wonderful childhood - riding horses, wandering the woods and creeks, tending gardens, making mud pies, chasing cattle, and helping out with many chores. She attended school in Veblen, where she graduated in 1977.
Marsha's life was blessed with Summer MacConnell in August 1975. After graduating high school, Marsha and Sommer moved to Portland, OR, where they made a happy life for four years! Ocean, mountains and parks galore! The best of times with her spiritual awakening! In Oregon, Marsha worked for amusement parks and factories. Marsha moved out to the Black Hills where her brothers lived in Deadwood and Lead. Making her way back home to South Dakota, she had a son, Stanley Holman. After returning home, she decided to attend college. Marsha obtained her degree at Sisseton Wahpeton Community College where she bloomed academically. She enjoyed attending seminars and workshops whenever she could. She loved learning and truly enjoyed this time of her life. She graduated in 1987.
Marsha lived and worked in Veblen at Dakota factory. Then she met the love of her life, Scott LaCroix. She moved to Minnesota to begin her life with him in 1990. Marsha worked in greenhouses and loved it. She also had a huge garden at their home in Maple Grove, MN.
In 1996, they moved to South Dakota and got married, twice in a week! They settled in Veblen and made their home in the foothills where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband.
Marsha's favorite job was marketing at Dakota Magic Casino, managing the entertainment and promotions. Then it was on to business management with her best friend Kathey George LaFleur. She ended her career as a coordinator with the Heipa District.
Marsha enjoyed reading, watching movies, growing flowers, and making her medicines. She also liked taking drives in the country – where she learned not to scream "Slow Down!" to her brothers. Marsha loved spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Scott LaCroix of Veblen; children, Sommer MacConnell and Stanley Holman both of Eden, SD; grandson, Glode MacConnell; two great-granddaughters, Lamara and Olivia; brother, Wesley MacConnell of Veblen; and brother-in-law, Jim Mireau.
