Marla G. Williams, 60, Aberdeen, SD, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015, at Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN.
Funeral services were Wednesday, May 27, at 2:00 p.m. at the Peever Lutheran Church in Peever, SD, with Rev. Sheila Pohl officiating. Music was provided by organist Kim Lawrence.
Burial was in the Peever Cemetery. Honorary urn bearers were Marla's friends and family.
Visitation was Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church. The Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt, SD, was in charge of the arrangements.
Marla was born April 6, 1955, to Arnold "Amos" and Wilma (Pond) Kurrasch in Sisseton, SD. She grew up on a farm in rural Wilmot. She graduated from Wilmot High School in 1973. After finishing school, Marla moved to New Effington where she raised her girls and enjoyed being a homemaker and worked at the Rosholt Care Center. She then moved to Sisseton where she was employed at Tekakwitha Nursing Home.
On September 3, 2004, Marla married James Williams in Rapid City. After their marriage, they moved to Aberdeen. Marla worked at Walmart in the bakery.
Marla enjoyed camping, fishing, doing arts and crafts, dancing, and playing cards. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and her two dogs Wilma and Karma.
Survivors include her husband, James of Aberdeen; four daughters, Hiedi Brandenburger of Henderson, NV, Pam Kriz of Sisseton, Rebecca (Mark) Mikkelson of Aberdeen, and Amie (Eric) Chavez of Elko, NV; eleven grandchildren, Vincent and Lauren Kriz, Macy and Riley Mikkelson, Sage and Triston Chavez, Aliyah Marlow, and Reghan, Kali, Kason and Creyton Williams; two stepchildren, Ryan Williams and James Williams of Sioux Falls; a sister, Janell (Glen) Bier of Milbank, SD; three brothers, Revay (Lori) Kurrasch of Milbank, and Sherman Kurrasch of Ortonville, MN, and Brian Kurrasch of Peever; sister-in-law, Terry (Mark) Isler of Bryant, SD; and two grandcats, Maddie and Dottie.
Marla was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Durwood "Duke" and Gaylon "Babe" Kurrasch.
