Margie Jo Kluge, age 78, Hankinson, passed away Monday, January 22, 2024, in Panama City, FL.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, January 31, at 1:00 p.m. at Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Hankinson officiated by Rev. Ken Adams.  Music will be provided by pianist Bev Paulson.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the church and will continue Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Hankinson.  Pallbearers will be Lloyd Moore, Danny Wilm, Austin Moore, John Pervin, Jr., Rodney Kluge, and Bill Pelky.  Military honors will be provided by the Hankinson American Legion Eberhard Post 88 and the Grand Forks Air Force Honor Guard.

Margie was born December 15, 1945, in Breckenridge, MN, to Lowell and Cora (Matteson) Caulkins.  Margie graduated from Rosholt High School in 1963.  After high school, she attended North Dakota State School of Science for two years and then transferred to Moorhead State University in Moorhead, MN.  She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Margie did her student teaching in Fergus Falls, MN.  Throughout her career, Margie taught at Glyndon and then Hankinson where she retired.

Margie married Myron Kluge on May 31, 1977, at the Methodist Church in LaMars Township.  She served in the Army Reserves for one year before she transferred to the Air National Guard, the Happy Hooligans, that she spent 23 years with until she retired in 2001. Margie was very proud to serve as the president of the North Dakota Enlisted Association.

Margie enjoyed reading books and tending to her flowers.  She especially loved playing piano and spending time with her family.

Margie is survived by her husband, Myron of Hankinson; daughter, Wendy (Lloyd) Moore of Fergus Falls, MN, and their children Danny (Jenna) Wilm, Ethan and Skylar of Glyndon, MN, Megan (Trey) Aviles of Tacoma, WA, and Austin Moore of Fargo, ND; daughter, LeAnn (Gregg) Kwasniewski of Watertown, SD and their children, Remington (Caitlin) Stavig, Easton and Clara of Watertown, SD, Gage Stavig of Sioux Falls, SD, and stepson John Pervin, Spring Valley, MN, and his son John Jr. of La Crosse, WI.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Lowell and Cora Caulkins.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been made to the Shriners Hospital in honor of Margie.
