Marcella "Sally" Homan

Marcella "Sally" D. Homan, 101, Browns Valley, MN, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023, at the Browns Valley Health Center.

Funeral Mass will be Monday, January 30, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Browns Valley with Fr. John Paul Knopik officiating.

Burial will be in the St. Anthony Calvary Cemetery, Browns Valley.  Pallbearers will be Dale Kaufman, Jr., Bill Gibson, Jr., Marvin Mickelson, Charlie Homan, Kevin Schweiss, and Michael Mickelson.

Visitation will be Monday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. The Christian Mothers will be praying the Rosary at 10:15 a.m.

Marcella Dorothy was born October 8, 1921, to Carl and Meta (Grams) Timm in Fairfax, MN.  Sally graduated from Fairfax High School.

Sally married Sylvester Homan on June 25, 1940, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Browns Valley. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony's.  Sylvester and Sally made their home on a farm in Arthur Township near Browns Valley for 24 years.  In 1964, they moved into Browns Valley.

Sally worked at Ike's Chicken Shack, Duehr's Market, the Browns Valley Health Center, and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.  She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Christian Mothers, and St. Anthony's Guild.

Sally loved playing cards, especially Bridge.  She also enjoyed working in her flower garden, reading, and baking goodies.

Sylvester passed away July 20, 2017.  Sally entered the Browns Valley Health Center on July 1, 2019.

Sally is survived by her children Ruth Mae (Bill) Gibson of Browns Valley, James (Pat) Homan of Talladega, AL, Helen Schweiss of New Ulm, MN, and Margaret Wilson of St. James, MO; a son-in-law, Dale Kaufman of St. James, MO; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a great-great-great-grandson; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Timm of Fairfax; a brother-in-law, Eugene Homan of Ortonville, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

Sally is preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester; daughter Joann Kaufman; sons-in-law, Cottie Wilson and Freddric Schweiss; granddaughter, Lisa Meeker; great-granddaughter, Ashley Anderson Walter; and four siblings.
