Lynn Nigg

Lynn D. Nigg, 60, Sisseton, SD, died Sunday, May 29, 2011, at the Browns Valley Health Center in Browns Valley, MN, after a short, but brave battle with brain cancer.
Funeral services were Friday, June 17, at 4:00 p.m. at the Edith Nigg and Louie Nigg farm, 46356 125th St., Sisseton, SD, with Rev. Anna Williamson officiating. Family, friends and neighbors gathered at the family farm for visitation one hour prior to the service. Music was provided by organist Neoma Ballhagen and vocalists Sandy Jaspers and Cindy Marohl.
Urn bearer was Les Goodsell.  Honorary pallbearers were Don Carlson, Ken Warren, Don Linhard, and Duane Schneider. Active pallbearers were Richard Hanson, Bryan Prins, Tim Rice, David Nigg, Mark Karst, Tim Nigg, and Travis Ceroll.
Lynn Dale Nigg was born March 7, 1951, the son of Edith and the late Dale Nigg, in rural Sisseton, SD. Lynn was a kind and generous man, patient and easy going who greeted everyone he met with a smile and always saw the best in everyone. He had many good friends and was grateful for each and every one of them. His caring spirit often showed in the way he handled his horses. He didn't "break" them; he "trained" them.
Lynn believed you worked for what you get and you share your rewards with others. His church was of great importance to him and he served in several capacities throughout his life. He worked the family farm homesteaded by his grandfather, Louis, working alongside his Dad and uncles and the last many years with his son, Louie. Caring for the land and preserving the family farm was important to Lynn. He served on the Roberts County Conservation Board and as clerk of Easter Township for many years. Life's daily pleasures to Lynn were simple; coffee and cards at Buck's early in the morning, breakfast with his Mother and son at the farm, a phone call or special note from his daughter and home to Jeanne at the end of the day for a "Bud" and some "M&M's".
Lynn and Jeanne (Domarus) Nigg were married on October 11, 1975 and they were blessed with two children, Louis Dale and Whitney Elizabeth. Lynn and Jeanne made it a priority to teach their children by example, by showing love and respect for one another at all times.
Lynn was a great 2-stepper. He once said "only one person dances as well as Mother, that is Whitney. Jeanne's a pretty good dancer and one of my sisters, "leads quite well." He spent his childhood "pestering" his little sister, as big brothers often do.
Lynn was diagnosed with brain cancer in January 2011. The amazing strength of his wife, Jeanne, son Louie and daughter Whitney, gave him the day to day, minute to minute courage to fight until he could no longer. His courage was a testament to all that made this man special in the hearts of many.
Lynn will be loved and missed forever by wife Jeanne, son Louie, daughter Whitney, son-in-law Hardell and grandson Maddox; along with his Mother Edith, sisters Mary (Don) Carlson, Marilynn (Les) Goodsell and 6 very special nieces/nephews, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and dear friends.
