Lucille Ardys Bisek was born on February 6, 1925, to Antonia Bisek and Leonard Holtz.  Lucille grew up and attended school in the New Effington area.  It was during her childhood that she developed a love for animals, country living, and the simple things in life.

On October 2, 1942, Lucille married Morris Larsen from Victor after meeting him at a local dance.  Throughout their marriage they made their home in many locations, including California, Washington, and South Dakota.  Lucille held many different job titles in her life, including mail carrier, welder at a shipyard, house cleaner, farm wife, and mother.  On February 11, 1956, Lucille and Morris welcomed their son, Rodney, into the world as they were living in Ridgecrest, California, where Morris was working at the naval base.  Five years later, they moved back to South Dakota and bought a farm near New Effington and began farming.

In 1967, Lucille lost her husband Morris due to complications with diabetes.  After Morris's death, Lucille began dating George Larsen (Morris's brother) and they were married on August 20, 1968.  They settled at the Larsen homestead farm located north of Victor where she loved all the amenities of farm life.  She lived there after George's death in 2001 until she moved to an assisted living facility in 2016 and eventually a nursing home.

Throughout her life, Lucille loved animals and they loved her.  She always welcomed dogs and cats to the farm whether they were hers or strays.  She had an attraction for bright and colorful decorations and clothes and would undoubtedly had raised peacocks on the farm if she had found some.  She found joy in cooking and was known for her Swedish rice and lefse, which she made and gave out to neighbors, friends, and family.  She and George were very active with their square dancing, card playing, and bowling circle of friends.  She had a deep faith in God and was an active church member in both Brandvold Lutheran and Faith Lutheran Churches.

Her love for her family was evident, especially for her granddaughters, and she would take them to many coffee parties whenever they came to the farm for a stay.  She and George made many trips to Colorado as the girls were growing up, always with a carload of goodies, presents, and dogs.

Lucille passed away on December 24, 2022, at the age of 97.  She was preceded in death by her husbands Morris (1967), and George (2001); grandson Nathan (1988); brother Dwayne Skog (1983); and sister Jeanice Detienne (2006).

Lucille is survived by her family of son Rod (Julia) of Arvada, CO; granddaughters Rachel (Justin) Fike of Golden, CO, and Stephanie (Joe) Shaw of Denver, CO; sister Shirley Cunniff of Denver; and sister-in-law Joan Skog of New Effington, SD.

She will be deeply missed but never forgotten by her family.
