Lorraine D. Carlson

Lorraine D. Carlson, 81, Browns Valley, MN, died Thursday, October 28, 2010, at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown.
Lorraine Dorothy was born December 31, 1928, in Iron Mountain, MI, to Malcolm and Marie (Turcotte) Carlson. She married Donald A. Carlson in Minneapolis in 1947. They were later divorced and Lorraine raised her children on her own. She lived and worked in the Minneapolis area until moving to the Valley Vista Apartments in Browns Valley in 2001. In September 2009, Lorraine made her home in the Browns Valley Health Center.
Lorraine loved her family first and foremost and was guided by her strong faith and spirituality. She enjoyed reading, animals, especially birds and cats, music, and catalog shopping.
Survivors include three children, Jan (Don) Logan of Silver Lake, MN, Don (Mary) Carlson of rural Sisseton, SD, and Cynthia (Ray) Jones of Florida; a sister, Alice Keil of Missouri; a brother, Dick Carlson of Minneapolis; four grandchildren, Cindy, Rob, Tom, Jr., and Tori; and eight great-grandsons, Nick, Danny, Kyle, Ryan, Isaac, Spencer, Conner, and Logan. She was preceded in death by a son, Tom Carlson.
Funeral services were Wednesday, November 3, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Browns Valley with Rev. Anna Williamson officiating. Organist was Janet LeClair.
Visitation was Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the church. The Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt, SD, was in charge of the arrangements.
