Lois J. Kohl, 75, Rosholt, SD, formerly of Claire City, SD, died Monday, April 5, 2010, at the Countryside Inn Assisted Living in Rosholt.         Funeral services were Friday, April 9, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in New Effington with Rev. Douglas Wanderer officiating.  Music was provided by organist Carolyn Fladland and the Ding-A-Lings from the Countryside Inn.         Burial was in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Claire City.  Honorary pallbearers were her neighbors and the staff and residents of the Countryside Inn.  Active pallbearers were David Brandell, Charlie Vandeputte, Calvin Ceroll, Terry Rudolph, Jim Kutter and Ross Best.         Visitation was Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt.  Visitation continued Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.         Lois Jane was born March 13, 1935, in Wahpeton, ND, to Judith (Medenwaldt) Williams.  She attended country school in rural Hankinson, ND.  As a young girl, Lois cleaned houses in the Hankinson area.          On February 6, 1952, Lois married Gene Kohl in Hankinson.  She worked at Skogen's Café in Claire City where her cooking talent was greatly appreciated.  Lois drove bus for the New Effington School District.  She also worked at the 1st State Bank in New Effington.  After working at the Dacotah factory in Veblen, SD, she owned and operated her own upholstery business out of her home.  Her last employment was at the Dakota Magic Casino where Lois was a hostess and enjoyed visiting with all the people.            Lois was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.  Her hobbies included crocheting, cooking and playing games.   She also enjoyed music, visiting, and spending time with family.  Lois was always willing to help others and loved to make people laugh.         Survivors include her husband, Gene Kohl of Rosholt; son, Ron (Janeen) Kohl of Lidgerwood, ND; daughter, Sandra (John Peterson) Kohl of Lidgerwood; two grandchildren, Chelsea (Justin Gaukler) Kohl and Keira Kohl of Lidgerwood; two great-grandchildren, Mariah and Halle Simonson of Lidgerwood; mother, Judith Williams of Rogers, MN; two half sisters, Nancy (Roger Olson) Alderman of Ham Lake, MN, and Sue (Vince Egan) Rawlings of Rogers, MN, and a brother-in-law, Chet Bandemer of Remer, MN.           Lois was preceded in death by her son, Robert; stepfather, Bud Williams; and half sister, Beverly.
