Linda Gayle Steffens

Linda Gayle (Muehler) Steffens, age 71, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at her home in New Effington.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Lidgerwood, ND.  Rev. Adam Filipek will be the officiant.

Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery near Tyler, ND.

Linda was born on January 30, 1953, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, the daughter of Herman Senior and Alma (McLaughlin) Muehler.   Linda had three children Tobby, Tony and Tiisha.

Linda married Roger Steffens on May 4, 1990, in Shakopee, Minnesota.  After spending time in Norwood, Minnesota, they moved to New Effington, South Dakota, where they worked in town and farmed until she retired in 2020.  While on the farm, Linda spent her time gardening, fishing, canning, baking, and cooking delicious meals. She loved helping with farm work.  Linda especially enjoyed calving time. Occasionally, she would bring her calves in the house if inclement weather.  Linda absolutely loved all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Her time with them was precious.

Her children remember her as a loving and patient mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals.  She was an active and devout member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Linda is survived by her husband, Roger Steffens; children, Tobby (Darci) Stroud, Tony (Lisa) Stroud, Tiisha Stroud, Jenni (Brent) Schnell, and Jason (Nancy) Steffens; 14 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; siblings, Darrel Muehler, Alice Ellsworth, Betty Bohn, Shirley Wegscheid (Gregor), Darline Carlson, Patty Zietlow (David), brother-in-law, Arlo Huelsman; and sister-in-law, Connie Muehler.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman Sr. and Alma Muehler; and siblings, Elise Muehler, Phyllis Banyai, Helen Swenson, Doris Huelsman, Herman Muehler Jr., Sharon Solberg, and Elaine Mitchell.
