Lila May was born on May 8, 1934 to William and Alta Lampman in Waterloo, IA. They moved several times during her elementary years to Browns Valley, MN, through 2 nd grade, Alberta, MN, Norcross, MN, then back to Browns Valley where she went to church summer camp. We found a note amongst her belongings she had written stating it was at this camp she committed her life to Christ and has been one of the Lord's children ever since.

Lila attended high school at Morris AG school for two years, Portland, OR, for her third year at Roosevelt High, then back to Browns Valley where she graduated. Her intentions were to enter the nursing field but after fainting in class, they suggested a career change. She then switched to teachers training in Fergus Falls.

In the spring of 1955, Lila met Sherwin while teaching elementary school in Beardsley, MN. They were married June 17 th , 1956 in Herman, MN, and resided on the family farm southwest of Rosholt.

Lila was active with St. Joseph Lutheran Church as organist, pianist, choir director, and the ladies aid. She was a member of the Eastern Star, taught countless piano lessons and enjoyed a career with the Rosholt Elementary School. After retirement she continued her love of music, family, friends, and traveling with Sherwin on bus trips across the country.

Lila is survived by her son, George (Ina) Akerson of Lincoln, NE; daughter, Lisa Thuringer of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Lindsay Barraclough of Cheltenham, UK, Cassandra (Brad) Hilker of Wichita, KS, Kevin Akerson of Bloomington, MN, Carly (Zach) Carlson of Lincoln, Brittany (Whitney) Salisbury of Brandon, SD, and Emily Salisbury of Sioux Falls; four great-grandchildren, Caleigh, Paisley, Isabelle and Lane; and brothers, Harold (Shirley) Lampman of Vancouver, WA, Glenn (Jane) Lampman of Desert Aire, WA, and Jim Lampman of Tri Cities, WA.
