Lewis Anthony Ringsaker, Jr., age 62, of Claire City, SD, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2023, after a tough battle to cancer.
Funeral Services will be Monday, September 25, at 2:00 p.m. at the Claire City Community Center in Claire City.
Burial will be in the Claire City Community Cemetery. The Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt is in charge of the arrangements.
Lewis, son of Lewis and Eloise (Kumm) Ringsaker, Sr., was born in Sisseton, SD, on January 21, 1961. He attended grade school in Sisseton. At age 17, Lewis moved to North Dakota where he worked with his brother Arley at the Chaffee, ND, Farmer's Elevator. Lewis also had many part-time jobs which included working for farmers and as a dishwasher at the Holiday Inn in Fargo, ND.
In 1978 he moved to Hastings, ND, where he got a full-time job at the Hastings Farmer's Elevator. He was married in 1984 and had three children, Shawn, Scott, and Shelby. They lived in Hastings until 1989 and then moved to a farm outside of Litchville, ND, where they farmed and ran cattle from 1989 to 2002. Lewis was a member of the Litchville Jaycee's and the North Lamoure Lutheran Church.
Lewis moved back to South Dakota in 2003, lived in New Effington for many years, then moved to a farm outside of Claire City. He took a lot of pride in his farm. He even built his own lookout tower above his garage.
Lewis had many different jobs throughout his time in South Dakota which included working for his brother Clark at CR Concrete from time to time. He worked with his two sons at Trail King in Fargo and did other various jobs. Lewis even had his own concrete business for a while. Lewis was a jack of all trades and was a very hard- working man. There weren't many projects or jobs he couldn't do. He was well known for his carpentry skills.
Lewis was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He spent his younger years trapping many sorts of animals. He took a lot of pride in all of his hunting and trapping he did over the years. He participated with many friends and family on a lot of hunting trips, and there was always a story to be told.
Lewis is survived by his children, Shawn Ringsaker and Brittany Kramber of Florence, SD, Scott and Kreszentia Ringsaker of Jamestown, ND, and Shelby Ringsaker and Daniel Muske of Berlin, ND; special friend, Patti Ressler of Milnor, ND; grandchildren, Aubree Sabinash-Protextor and Sylas Ringsaker; siblings, Beverly and Lloyd Schraeder of Claire City, Randy Habeck of Jamestown, ND, Bonnie and Guy Harris of Kewaskum, WI, Arley and Diane Ringsaker of Milbank, SD, Clark (Carol) Ringsaker of Watertown, SD, David and Rochelle Ringsaker of Hankinson, ND, and Daniel Ringsaker and Megan Palubicki of Hawley, MN; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Eloise Ringsaker; and sister, Mary Habeck.
