LeRoy was born on the family farm south of Rosholt on March 12, 1916. He was the second of four boys born to his parents Lauritz and Sophie (Nelson) Meyer.

LeRoy was baptized and confirmed at Trondhjem Lutheran Church in rural Rosholt and was a lifelong member of the congregation. He attended country school at Harmon Number 2 South from grades 1-8 and graduated from Rosholt High School in 1934. He then began farming with his parents and brothers south of Rosholt.

LeRoy was united in marriage to Elsie Olson on October 27, 1945, at St. Joseph Lutheran Church, rural Rosholt. LeRoy and Elsie made their home two miles east of his family's homestead. From this union, a son, Jeffry, was born. LeRoy lived on the farm until moving into assisted living in August 2019.

LeRoy was a lifelong farmer, starting with horse drawn implements. He purchased his first tractor, which he still owns, for $550 in 1940. LeRoy was an active member of the Rosholt Area Threshermen's Association and especially enjoyed making bundles with Wally McKee. He was a board member of the Traverse Electric Cooperative for many years. LeRoy loved to tinker in his shop. He restored a 1927 Ford Model T on his own and enjoyed entering it in local parades.

LeRoy was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins and watched the games faithfully. LeRoy and Elsie enjoyed traveling, taking many trips together until she passed away in 1993. In his later years, LeRoy found great joy in spending time with his great-grandkids. Ever the kid at heart, he could be spotted riding a scooter or playing with toy trains on the floor well into his 90s.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie; parents, Lauritz and Sophie; and three brothers, Everett, Russell, and Raymond.

He is survived by his son, Jeffry (Carol) Meyer of Rosholt; four grandchildren, Amy (James) Boles of Mankato, MN, Lauritz (Brook) Meyer of Sioux Falls, SD, Kay (David) Brandenburger of Rosholt, and Bryan Meyer of Ada, MN; along with nine great-grandchildren, Laura, Amanda, and Melissa Boles; Alexis, Jacey, and Caleb Meyer; and Grace, Grant, and Nicholas Brandenburger; and two beloved sisters-in-law, Gladys Pearson and Ruth Olson.

Memorials may be directed to the Rosholt Area Threshermen's Association or the Rosholt Alumni Association scholarship fund.
