Leo H. Hamner, age 82, Graceville, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Grace Home in Graceville.

There will be a Memorial Visitation Thursday, June 19, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. with a Prayer at 2:30 p.m. at the Grace Home Chapel in Graceville.

Burial will be in the Clinton City Cemetery.  Honorary urn bearers will be Jamie Cardwell and Gale Hamner.

Leo Hubert Hamner was born July 7, 1942, to Paul and Justine (DeVaan) Hamner. He was a beloved member of a close-knit, caring family. Growing up surrounded by love, Leo developed a strong sense of loyalty and compassion that stayed with him throughout his life.

Leo attended Graceville High School, where he was an enthusiastic and talented athlete, participating in track, football, and basketball. He graduated in 1960 and went on to study at an Airline Technical College, always eager to learn and grow.

In 1962, Leo married Gloria Remus, and together they welcomed two children, Brian and Janae. Though life brought changes, Leo found love again, marrying Sandy Kramber in 1974 and welcoming her son, Greg, into the family. In 1986, he married Cheri Volk, whose son Kenny became part of Leo's life, and together they had two sons, Andrew and Michael. Family was always at the center of Leo's world.

Leo's work ethic was evident early on, starting on the family farm before moving to Minneapolis, where he worked for Northwest Tire Company. A tragic accident led to a traumatic brain injury, but Leo's resilience and determination were unwavering. After many years, with the support of family and friends, he made a courageous recovery and eventually returned to work in sales until his retirement.

Leo found joy in giving back. He was proud of his involvement with the Boy Scouts and enjoyed helping at the Senior Center. He spent his later years painting and woodworking, creating cherished pieces while living at Grace Home. These hobbies brought him peace and purpose, and his work is a lasting testament to his spirit.

Above all, Leo loved his family deeply. He showed his care through quiet gestures, steady support, and a heartfelt desire to be there for those he loved.

Leo is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, David Hamner and Norman Hamner; and his sister-in-law, Hazel (Widness) Hamner.

He is survived by his children and grandchildren; his brother, Gale Hamner; his sisters, Mary Ellen Hamner and Paulette (Dennis) Garoutte; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family wishes to thank all who shared friendship, kindness, and care with Leo throughout his life. His legacy of perseverance and love will live on in all who knew him.
