Lenore "Lee" A. Goehring, 87, Browns Valley, MN, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017, at the Browns Valley Health Center.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Browns Valley with Rev. Jim Probst officiating. Music will be provided by organist Ginny Westbrock.
Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery, Browns Valley. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Jim Probst, Jason Probst, Stephanie Metz, Erin Pierce, Kimberly Piechowski, Tina Leininger, John Goehring, Brent Goehring, Steven Neely, Daniel Neely, Emily Beebe and Nicole Searcy. Active pallbearers will be her sons, Jack Goehring and Mark Goehring.
Lenore Audrey was born March 7, 1930, to Alfred and Hannah (Moe) Bakken in Fargo, ND. She attended school in Wheaton, MN, graduating from Wheaton High School in 1948.
On September 3, 1949, Lee married John "Jack" Goehring in St. Cloud, MN. They lived in St. Cloud, Sugar Grove, IL, and then back to Browns Valley after retiring in 1986. While Lee and Jack enjoyed living all those years in Sugar Grove, they always knew that one day they would return to Browns Valley, because that was always home. Lee made her home in the Traverse Care Center in January 2012 and then the Browns Valley Health Center in April 2012. Jack died November 21, 2012.
Lee enjoyed shopping, especially for clothes, and chocolate. She also enjoyed living in the care center, where she loved baking and playing games.
Survivors include five children, Stephanie (Ken) Warren of Browns Valley, Debra (Gene) Pierce of Port Charlotte, FL, Mark (Candi) Goehring of Browns Valley, John "Jack" (Sue) Goehring of Browns Valley, and Denise "Dede" (Mark) Neely of Sugar Grove, IL; 11 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters-in-law, Carol Gaetz of St. Cloud, MN, and Arlene Bakken of Wahpeton, ND.
Lee was preceded in death by her husband, John; son, Jay Goehring; granddaughter, Stephanie Pierce Metz; parents, Alfred and Hannah Bakken; sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Ben Berger and Blanche and Cliff Ertsgaard; and brother, Alton Bakken.
The family requests memorials be directed to the Browns Valley Ambulance in Lee Goehring's name.
