Leland J. Doll, 82, New Rockford, ND, passed away Friday, October 21, 2016, at Bethany on University in Fargo, ND.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 26, at 1:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt, SD, officiated by Rev. Suzanne Benidt.
Burial will be in the Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton. Military honors will be provided by the Merton Dale American Legion Post 80 of Wheaton. Honorary pallbearers will be John, Jesse, and Lisa Schuster. Active pallbearers will be Randy Doll, Scott Mayou, Seth Haakenson, Skylar Doll, Bailey Doll and Doug Haakenson.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
Leland Joseph Doll was born March 24, 1934, to Andy and Sylvia (Meyer) Doll in Dumont, MN. He attended school in Wheaton, graduating from Wheaton High School in 1951. In September 1956, Leland entered the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged December 27, 1957.
In June 1962, Leland married Bonnie Judkins. They lived in Wheaton for a short time, then moved to Devils Lake where Leland worked for the telephone company. In 1977, they moved to New Rockford, ND. Leland continued working for the telephone company, retiring in 1998.
Leland enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and tending to his big garden.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Doll of New Rockford; two daughters, Kim (Doug) Haakenson of Fargo, Lisa Doll (Scott Mayou) of Rosholt; son, Randy (Leann) Doll of Fargo; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Seth, Skylar, Bailey, Erin, John, Jesse, and Lisa; two great-grandchildren, Mia and Silas; a brother, Tom (LaVonne) Doll of Darwin, MN; and a sister, Mary (David) Sand of Buffalo, MN.
Leland was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Eugene, Chester, Robert and Jerome.
