Lee D. Backman

Lee D. Backman, 32, Wheaton, MN, formerly of Beardsley, MN, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 9, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethania Lutheran Church in Rosholt, SD, with Rev. Nancy Quatier officiating. Music will be provided by organist Lana Sand.

Burial will be in the Midway Cemetery, Beardsley, MN. Active pallbearers will be TJ Backman, Hunter Backman, Cody Backman, Bryan Crandall, Tyler Braun, Brian Ennen, and Danny Ennen. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Lee's countless friends.

Visitation will be Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lee Donovan Backman was born August 22, 1984, in Sisseton, SD, to Leon Jr. and Julie (Lundgren) Backman. He attended school in Beardsley, Browns Valley and later Sisseton High School. He was currently working at the New Horizons Elevator in Herman, MN.

It didn't matter if you knew Lee or not, this is a loss for all of us. He was one of the most thoughtful and generous people you could ever meet. He loved his toys, he loved his people, and took really good care of them both. Lee made life more fun and was a man you could always count on. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mudding, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his nephew Stanley and girlfriend Alyssa.

Lee is survived by his parents, Leon Jr. and Julie Backman of Beardsley; paternal grandparents, Leon and Gladys Backman of Sisseton, SD; sisters, Molly (Jesse) Remer of Sartell, MN, and Tracy (Adam) Kraus of Rosholt, SD; two half-sisters, Carisa Yordy of Ortonville, MN, and Dixie (Josh) Crompton of Beamon, IA; girlfriend, Alyssa Buettner of Wheaton, MN; six nephews; and four nieces.

Lee is preceded in death by his grandparents, Willard and Dorene Lundgren; uncle, Bryan Backman; and nephew, Isaiah.
