Lawrence "Larry" F. Serocki, 94, Browns Valley, MN, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014, at the Coteau des Prairies Hospital in Sisseton, SD.

Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, October 6, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Browns Valley with Father David Breu officiating. Music was provided by organist Carmen Hills.

Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery, Browns Valley. Military honors were provided by the Fort Sisseton VFW Post 3342. Pallbearers were Larry's grandsons, Vince and Tony Serocki, Brian and Chad Serocki, Billy Kraus, Dillan Serocki, and Kelly, Rick and Nick Hansen. Gift bearers were Larry's granddaughters, Amy Olson and Amber Bernard.

Visitation was Sunday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Browns Valley. Visitation continued Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lawrence Francis Serocki was born May 19, 1920, to Frank and Caroline (Piechowski) Serocki on the family farm in Traverse County, MN. He attended rural school through the eighth grade then helped on the family farm.

On February 3, 1942, Larry entered the U.S. Army and served in Guadalcanal, the Northern Solomons, and Luzon. He was honorably discharged October 2, 1945. During his time in the War, Larry never returned home on furlough and received numerous awards and citations for his service.

On October 10, 1946, Larry married Rosallia Lewandowski at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Sisseton, SD. He continued to farm until retiring and moving into Browns Valley.

Larry was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Fort Sisseton VFW Post 3342. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, woodworking, hunting and playing cards. He especially loved helping his son Richard with his excavating work.

Survivors include his wife, Rosallia of Browns Valley; children, Dennis (Kathy) Serocki of Browns Valley, Marjorie (William) Kraus of Wheaton, MN, Richard (Helen) Serocki of Browns Valley, John Serocki of Beardsley, and Ann (Mark) Hansen of Browns Valley; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a brother, Jim (Marian) Serocki of Thorp, WI; and two sisters, Lucille Hammarsten of Browns Valley and Theresa (Larry) Meyer of Fargo.

Larry was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Linda Serocki; a great-granddaughter; brothers, Paul, Stanley, Eugene and Raymond; and sisters, Dorothy Heck and Mary Palmer.
