Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery, Rosholt. Honorary pallbearers were his many friends that he enjoyed working with at Minn-Dak. Visitation was Sunday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt.
Larry was born June 18, 1947, in Wheaton, MN, to William and Joyce (Miller) Kaufman. He was baptized at the Wheaton Hospital and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. He attended school in Bryant Township and graduated from Browns Valley High School in 1965. After finishing school, Butch moved to Minneapolis where he worked as a machinist.
On April 6, 1968, Butch married Yvonne Hoffman at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Browns Valley. The couple moved to Shirley Basin, WY, in 1970, where Butch worked in the uranium mines as a heavy equipment operator and supervisor for 15 years. They returned to the Browns Valley area in 1985, where Butch began farming with his father and soon after, began working for Minn-Dak in Wahpeton. Yvonne died October 1, 1996. In 1997, Butch moved to Wahpeton and continued to work as a security guard at Minn-Dak.
Butch had many interests including dog training, fishing (walleye was his favorite), hunting and processing wild game, shooting sporting clays, and riding his motorcycle. He especially enjoyed elk hunting trips in the mountains of Wyoming and often shared those hunting stories with his many friends. Butch was an avid gun enthusiast, whether it be buying, selling, trading or simply visiting about them. He spent a considerable amount of time reloading shells, as well as sharpening knives for family, friends and others. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Upon returning from visiting his grandkids, he would take great joy in sharing stories of their times together.
Survivors include his son, Todd (Kim) Kaufman, Webster, SD; three granddaughters, Emily, Ella and Emari; his mother, Joyce Kaufman, Breckenridge, MN; twin sister, Linda Larson, Casper, WY; sister, Pam (Randy) Armstrong, Wahpeton; brother, Paul Kaufman (special friend Sherry Thompson), Detroit Lakes, MN; sister-in-law, Rose Kaufman, Rosholt, SD; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
