LaRayne M. Ingemunson, 90, Browns Valley, MN, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Coteau des Prairies Hospital in Sisseton, SD.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 1, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Browns Valley with Rev. Paul Warnier officiating. Music will be provided by organist Ginny Westbrock, vocalist great granddaughter Sarah Zornes and guitarist grandson Cody Hansen.
Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery, Browns Valley. Honorary urn bearers will be LaRayne's Browns Valley Health Center friends and staff, who brought her so much joy in her last years. Active urn bearers will be LaRayne's grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
LaRayne Margaret was born June 18, 1926, in Browns Valley to Chris and Marjorie (Flannery) Siewerdsen. She attended school in Browns Valley, graduating from Browns Valley High School in 1944.
On December 21, 1946, LaRayne married Orville Ingemunson at the Browns Valley Lutheran Church. LaRayne and Orville were married for 69 wonderful years and held hands until their last days. Orville passed away June 26, 2015.
LaRayne was employed at most of the cafes in town and worked for Ray Gettman in both the Red Owl and Super Valu. She was very active in the Browns Valley community. LaRayne was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, a Boy Scout Den Mother, and belonged to the same bowling team and birthday club for over 50 years. She helped start the Alumni Association and was one of the first inducted into the Browns Valley Alumni Hall of Fame. Since 1946, LaRayne belonged to the VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary where she held many offices. She was also a member of Red Hats.
LaRayne always found time to care for others. She volunteered at the Browns Valley Health Center since it opened and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. She also cared for her bedridden mother for 22 years. LaRayne and Orville enjoyed taking many trips in their camper, especially to California to visit family. She was a social butterfly and never turned down an opportunity to visit with family and friends. She especially enjoyed Thursday gatherings with her lifelong friends. LaRayne always greeted everyone with a warm smile and had an optimistic outlook on life. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world.
Survivors include three children, Gary Ingemunson and Joanie Haukos of Simi Valley, CA, Greg and Sally Ingemunson of Black Hawk, SD, and Kim and Mike Hansen of Browns Valley; daughter-in-law, Sharon Ingemunson of Sioux Falls, SD; nine grandchildren, Tina, Angela, Eric, Misty, Penie, Trixie, Chris, Mitch and Cody; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
LaRayne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orville; son, Kevin; brother, Bob; and daughters-in-law, Dixie and Dianne.
