Katherine A. Holden, 97, Beardsley, MN, died Monday, December 27, 2010, at Grace Home in Graceville, MN.
Funeral mass was Thursday, December 30, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Beardsley, MN, with Father David Breu officiating. Music was provided by organist Nita Holker and vocalists Sue Sykora and Stacey Borgheiinck.
Burial was in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were all of her grandchildren. Active pallbearers were Roger Hendricks, Kenny Hendricks, Shawn Gigrich, Scott Gigrich, Kevin Gigrich, and Joe Doperalowski.
Visitation was Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Katherine Ann was born February 11, 1913, in Beardsley, MN, to Pete and Nette (Gossen) Hendricks. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Beardsley. She attended country school in rural Beardsley.
Katherine married James Holden in May 1937 in Big Stone City, SD. They lived in Beardsley where Katherine was a homemaker. James passed away October 12, 1971. Katherine continued to live in Beardsley, moving to the Beardsley Apartments in 1984. In 2002, Katherine made her home at Grace Home in Graceville.
Katherine was a member of the St. Mary's Guild. Her hobbies included baking, sewing, embroidery, playing cards, and attending Thursday night Bingo at St. Mary's. She also enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Patricia (Richard) Gigrich of Blaine, MN, Lawrence (Lila) Holden of Donnelly, MN, Jeanine (Gayle) Issendorf of Clinton, MN, and Mary Kay (Don) Metz of Donnelly; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Ann Hendricks; and brothers, Norbert and Lawrence Hendricks.
