Julie A. Backman

Julie A. Backman, 69, Beardsley, MN, peacefully passed away with her family by her side on Friday, October 22, 2021, at the Browns Valley Health Center.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, October 28, followed by a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt, SD, with Rev. Nancy Quatier officiating.

Burial will be at a later date in the Midway Cemetery, Beardsley, MN.

Julie Ann Backman was born June 28, 1952, in Wilmot, SD, to Willard and Dorene (Osterloh) Lundgren. She attended school in Wilmot.

On June 20, 1982, Julie married Leon Backman, Jr. in Wilmot, SD. They had three children, Molly, Tracy and Lee. Julie and Leon moved to a farm near Beardsley where they worked hard on the farm raising their children and building their life.

Julie was a member of Siloah Lutheran Church in rural Graceville. She enjoyed spending her time outside in the garden and took special care of her flower beds. She also enjoyed needlepoint, painting, puzzles, crafts, and going for rides on the golf cart. Julie was the happiest when she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She will be truly missed by all.

Julie is survived by her husband, Leon; children, Molly (Jesse) Remer of Sartell, MN, and Tracy (Adam) Kraus of Rosholt; stepdaughters, Carisa Yordy of Ortonville, MN, and Dixie (Josh) Crompton of Canton, SD; nine grandchildren, Stanley Kraus, Tesla Kraus, Dominic Remer, Taylor Remer, Savannah (Cortez) Daniel, Abby (Tyson) Karsky, and Connor Teigen; sisters, Joy Buehler of Shakopee, MN, and Mary (Larry) Grams of Litchfield, MN; and brother, John Lundgren of Wilmot.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Dorene Lundgren; son, Lee Backman; and grandson, Isaiah Teigen.
