Joyce C. Randall

Joyce C. Randall, 91, Browns Valley, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2020, at the Browns Valley Health Center.

Graveside services will be Saturday, November 28, at 2:00 p.m. at the Calvary Cemetery, Browns Valley. Honorary urn bearers will be the residents and staff of the Browns Valley Health Center. Active urn bearers will be the Dew Girls.

Military honors will be provided by the William Krensing American Legion Post 58 of Browns Valley.

Joyce Catherine Randall was born June 14, 1929, to Malcolm and Catherine (Moore) Randall in Browns Valley, MN. She graduated from Browns Valley High School. While in school, Joyce worked at the Valley Telephone as a switchboard operator. She continued that job after graduation.

Joyce joined the U.S. Marines on July 6, 1956, and obtained the rank of LCpl (E3) and received the Good Conduct Medal First Award. She was discharged on July 6, 1959. Joyce then worked at Western Union in San Diego, CA, until her retirement.    In 2003, Joyce moved back to Browns Valley to be closer to family. She lived in the Valley Vista Apartments until she entered the Browns Valley Nursing Home in December 2012.

Joyce was an avid bowler and won many trophies. She loved dogs and enjoyed helping at a dog kennel bathing and grooming dogs. Joyce also loved children and doted on her 13 nieces and nephews; her "adopted" son, Ryan, in San Diego and her "adopted" daughters, "The Dew Girls."

Joyce is survived by her sister, Ardeth Simon of Sisseton, SD; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; and several great-great-great-nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Suzie Randall; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucille and Eugene Clark and Marguerite and Burton Plant; brother-in-law, Archie Simon; and several nieces and nephews.
