John C. "Jack" Goehring, 83, Browns Valley, MN, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at the Browns Valley Health Center.
Funeral services were Monday, November 26, at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Browns Valley with Rev. Anna Williamson officiating. Music was provided by organist Janet LeClair.
Burial was in the Valley View Cemetery, Browns Valley. Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren, Jim Probst, Jason Probst, Stephanie Metz, Erin Pierce, Kimberly Pierce, Tina Leininger, John Goehring, Brent Goehring, Steven Neely, Daniel Neely, and Emily Neely. Active pallbearers were his sons, Jack Goehring and Mark Goehring.
John Clair Goehring was born December 28, 1928, at rural Peever, SD, to John William and Clara Emelia (Lundstrom) Goehring. He attended school in Browns Valley.
On September 3, 1949, Jack married Lenore Audrey Bakken at St. Cloud, MN. They lived in St. Cloud, Sugar Grove, IL, and then back to Browns Valley after retiring in 1986. Jack moved to the Browns Valley Health Center in April 2012.
Jack's hobbies included hunting, and fishing with his sons and good friend Bill Spotts. He enjoyed oil painting and was an accomplished wood carver of ducks and geese. Jack was also an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan.
Jack's true gift was the love he gave to his family.
Survivors include his wife, Lenore of Browns Valley; children, Stephanie (Ken) Warren, Debbie (Gene) Pierce, Mark (Candi) Goehring, and John "Jack" (Sue) Goehring all of Browns Valley, and Denise "Dede" (Mark) Neely of Sugar Grove, IL; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol (Steve) Gaetz of St. Cloud; a brother, Stanley Goehring of Wheaton, MN; and several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jay; a granddaughter, Stephanie Metz; and two brothers, Gale and Dean Goehring.
