Joann Nordly

JoAnn M. Nordly, 78, Beardsley, MN, passed away surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer on Saturday, July 17, 2021, in her home.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, July 24, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN, with Rev. Janet Warnes officiating. Music will be provided by her niece, Ronda Eckhart and granddaughter, Whitney Lick.

The funeral service will be livestreamed on the Eggers Funeral Home Facebook page.

Burial will be at a later date in the Siloah Lutheran Cemetery, Parnell Township, Traverse County, MN.  Honorary urn bearers will be all of JoAnn's grandchildren.

Visitation open house will be Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Beardsley United Methodist Church in Beardsley.

JoAnn Marie was born June 19, 1943, to Phillip and Henrietta (Tieman) Bueckers at her grandparents' home in Melrose, MN. JoAnn and her family lived in Northome, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith in Effie, MN. When she was six years old, the family moved to Bigfork, MN. JoAnn attended school in Bigfork, graduating from Bigfork High School in 1961. After finishing school, JoAnn was employed in the mortgage loan department at Prudential Insurance Company in Minneapolis, MN.

On October 5, 1963, JoAnn married Clifford LeRoy Nordly at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. They moved to rural Graceville in 1966. JoAnn and Clifford were blessed with five children. JoAnn enjoyed being a wife, mother, and homemaker. She worked at Grace Home for many years and then transitioned to a home health aide with Sanford Health retiring in 2014. After retirement, Cliff and JoAnn spent their winters in Lake Havasu City, AZ.

JoAnn was a member of Siloah Lutheran Church and Mt. Olive Lutheran Church and was involved with the Via de Cristo. She also belonged to the Chautauqua Concert Association.

JoAnn's hobbies included hiking, gardening, doing jigsaw puzzles and baking. She was especially known for her pies. She loved Elvis Presley and going to concerts and musicals. JoAnn enjoyed traveling, fall camping and campfires. Above all, she loved family gatherings and spending time with family, friends and neighbors.

Survivors include her husband, Clifford Nordly of Beardsley; children, Laurie Anderson of Watertown, MN, Jared (Kiara) Nordly of Clinton, MN, Aaron (Karine) Nordly of Mankato, MN, Jennifer (Bob) Haukos of Beardsley; and April (Josh) Sibson of Steamboat Springs, CO; grandchildren, Per, Hans, and Lars Anderson, Nate (Jenn) Nordly, Kaitlyn (Tom) Silver, Logan (McKenzie) Nordly, Morgan (Jackson) Gregory, Walker, Whitney, and Kylie Lick, Jake and Jenna Nordly, Paige Haukos, and Georgie, Elliot, and Mallory Sibson; 8 ½ great-grandchildren; sister, Karen Phifer of Big Fork, MN; brothers, John (Marilyn) Bueckers of Pine River, MN, and Mark (Lillie) Bueckers of Benson, AZ;  sister-in-law, JoAnn Bueckers of Detroit Lakes, MN; and lifelong close family friends, Sharon Martinez and her daughter Carla (Devan and Jaycie).

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Henrietta; brother, Dick Bueckers; brother-in-law, Darrell "Skip" Phifer; and family friends, Louie Martinez and Elisa Martinez.
