Jean Martinek

Jean Martinek, 70, Rosholt, SD, died Monday, September 27, 2010, at Sanford Health Center in Fargo, ND.
Funeral service was Thursday, September 30, at 2:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt with Rev. Nancy Quatier officiating.
Burial was in the Garden of Rest Cemetery, New Effington, SD. Pallbearers were Justin Rikimoto, Chad Rikimoto, Casey Martinek, David van Gorkom, Rick Martinek, and Ryan Olson.
Visitation was Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home and continued Thursday one hour prior to the service.
Jean Hamm was born May 20, 1940, in Hubbard County, MN to George and Alice (Shipley) Hamm. She grew up in Nevis, MN, and Akeley, MN. She attended grade school in Hubbard Co., MN, and high school in Nevis.
On November 5, 1959, Jean married Larry Martinek in Minneapolis, MN. She worked as a waitress in various cafes and was employed as a nurse's aide when the Rosholt Nursing Home opened. She later worked at the family business, Martinek Lumber, in Rosholt.
Jean enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always loving and willing to help others in need.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Martinek of Rosholt; son, Randy Martinek of Rosholt; daughter Debbie (Dave) van Gorkom of Kulm, ND; five grandchildren, Justin (Niki) Rikimoto, Chad (Jamee) Rikimoto, Crystal Rikimoto, Jennifer Rikimoto, and Casey Martinek; eleven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bob (Rose) Hamm of Brainerd, MN.
Jean was preceded in death by her mother, stepfather, father, granddaughter-in-law and two great-grandsons.
